– While this sounds like quite an interesting little tale, How I Learned to Drive is about a woman who leads life from behind the wheel and reaches a sexual coming of age through the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s…Might not sound like your typical film but might be something different and entertaining. $17, so why not?

– Got any Florida State fans here? From 6-10 PM at the TIAA Bank Field on the east side, the Jacksonville Seminole Club will be kicking off the 2018 Florida State football season! With Charlie Ward being PHYSICALLY there and signing copies of his book, it’s an event you can’t miss (assuming you like the Seminoles…)!

– The Life Rolls on Foundation is hosting this awesome surfing event for the disabled, for the 11th YEAR IN A ROW! With over 200 land and water volunteers assisting, this should be a fun one to watch. Head to the beach right in front of the Lifeguard Station and watch some people shred the gnar.

– For anyone feeling up to the challenge, head to the TIAA Bank Field (a lot of stuff is going on there this week, huh?) for a 5K Run through the stadium. You run under the lights, up and down the stairs, and cross the finish line on the field. Afterward, there is a live band and a Bud Light party!

 – Every Sunday, there is some good ‘ole movie playing at the Florida Theatre. At 2 PM this particular Sunday, Mrs. Doubtfire will be on for only $7.50 a person! For anyone that wants to cherish the Robin Williams memories, go on and watch this classic film.

 – Commonly in the Weekly Wins blurb because of its awesomeness, Big Fish Yoga holds a class every Sunday at 10 AM at Surfer the Bar! If you need to stretch out those limbs or make some friends, this is the chance to do it…for FREE.

– If you are passionate about pride events and passionate about bingo, this is the one you’ll want to go to. From 7:30-9:30 PM at the River City Pride Event, Hamburger Mary’s is holding a little bingo event, promoted as “not your typical church basement bingo”, whatever that could mean. All proceeds go to charity!

– At the 1904 Music Hall from 7-midnight, the Travis Larson Band, Dave LaRue Band, Jupiter Groove, and Audio Hive will ALL be performing one after the other. If you like (or have even heard of these bands), head to this event with only a $10 ticket!

Tuesday, August 14

– At the Volstead downtown, 16 local bartenders are duking it out for a $1000 cash prize with on-the-fly, mixed drink creations in this year’s Bartender Brawl. The audience samples the whole competition, so they ultimately decide the winner. AKA, if you go, YOU ultimately pick the winner. It’s free to attend, so let’s go, get caught up in the hype, and get drunk.

– If you’re in need of some Tuesday night fun, DJ Robin hosts a Karaoke Party at theLOFT (yes, that is only 1 word) from 9 PM to close. The first 5 singers get free shots! Woop, Woop!

There you have it, folks. Another summed up week of Jacksonville’s hottest activities. Whether you’re in search of live music, great drinks, bingo, or something else, Jacksonville covers a lot of those bases…unless you’re looking for mud-wrestling or something weird.

Need more fun ideas for the week ahead? Enjoy drinks with a view at Jacksonville’s best rooftop bars!
