Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Jax 9/5 – 9/11
As summer is coming to a close (boo!) and we all start to get that “back to school” feeling (ugh!), #FrayLife is here with fun ways for you to win the coming week in Jacksonville!

Wednesday, September 5
– MST3K’s Frank Conniff and Trace Beaulieu are doing a movie roast at Sun Ray Cinema, live and in-person! They say it could be PG-13 rated, but we all know anything could happen. Come see the show for only $30 and tear some bad films apart!
– Did we just become best friends? YES…if you love Step Brothers. At 7:30 PM at Lola’s Burrito and Burger Joint, prepare for a majestic night of trivia for one of our all-time favorite movies.
Thursday, September 6
– Mellow Mushroom always turns up on Thursday night, with $2 wine for the ladies and a ton of men that come to check out the ladies. If you are looking for a party, head to Mellow Mushroom in Jax Beach for a good time.
– Do you like lions, tigers, and bears? Oh my! Well, if you like 2 of the 3 (there are no bears, sorry), head to Catty Shack Ranch for the day tour. It is a 45 minute guided tour for only $10, and you also can see foxes, cougars, leopards, and coatimundis (whatever that could be).
Friday, September 7
– Shim Sham is celebrating Jax Fray and all of the cool cats that like to party by throwing a big, free End of Summer / Fall Kickoff Party on the 2nd floor. The party starts at 7 PM and there will be $4 well drinks and $3.50 beers. Come meet some new friends and enjoy some drinks!
– I know I already promoted an event at Mellow Mushroom but THIS ONE is trivia about the WORLD’S favorite show, The Office. How can you miss this?! As if this isn’t enough, there will be $600 in prizes! Come on, people!!!
Saturday, September 8
– The 5th annual Baby Buggy Walk in the Park is taking place to support Infant Mortality Awareness month. There are free giveaways and prizes, and Titanium Yoga will be having a class from 11:30-12:30. So come out to the Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition at 10 AM with your yoga mat!
– Feel the adrenaline rush as the paint starts flying and you’re dancing your heart out to the music with strobe lights. That’s right, this weekend is the GlowRage Paint Party! Mavericks Live is where the party goes down, all night, from 9 PM – 2 AM. Earlybird tickets are only $15, so get on it, party people.
Sunday, September 9
– Surfer is always reppin’ the Jags, and an away game against the New York Giants is no exception. From 1-4, the game will be on the big screen, with plenty of Jags fans coming out to watch the game and socialize. They will have Jags-themed cocktails and a ton of drink specials!
– At Whiskey Jax, join the group for the 2nd Paint and Chat. If you like painting and you like chatting (or maybe you’re just a great listener), bring a friend and get a drink. The group sits on the patio and paints…and chats. Sounds chill, sounds fun.
Monday, September 10
– Starfinder Society is the epic science-fantasy roleplaying game that goes on every other Monday at Java Game Haus at 6 PM. You make a character, cast missiles, and shoot stun phasers. Table fees for players are only $3. So let’s all go be gamers.
– At 1904 Music Hall, get your funk on at 9 PM. There is no cover and you can get $2 PBR Tall Boys with $3 Fireball shots. It’s cheap, it’s fun, it’s a must-go.
Tuesday, September 11
– Hosted by Rue Saint-Marc in San Marco, the “A Night in Burgundy Wine Dinner” will have you feeling like you’re in Burgundy as you taste the region’s wines! Prepare your tummy, too, for a five-course dinner. Go ahead and prepare for a treat at 7 PM.
– Does anyone else think terrariums are super cute? The featured project at South Kitchen & Spirits will be a distressed wood succulent terrarium. An instructor shows you how’s it done and you walk out with your own plant! All supplies are provided and it will be FUN.
