Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Jax 7/25 – 7/31

Who is ready for another week of MUST-DO activities?! To be fair, it could just be stuff that keeps you from lying bored on your couch, but whatever, pretty much the same thing.

Wednesday, July 25

– From 7:30-9:30 at Lola’s Burrito and Burger Joint, there is Grey’s Anatomy Trivia going on! So if you know the meaning of Mer’s and Der’s versatile couple name, then you’re probably one of those people that could win…

– For anyone that loves yoga, prepare for an up-close and personal class. The Africa Yoga Project is holding a $25 class at the Glass Factory, with appetizers and a cash bar afterward. Their goal is to spread their bigger purpose and shine in your hearts, so prepare for a cheesy, yet happy, sense of community.

3rd Annual Builders and Beats – With a $25 ticket to support Beaches Habitat for Humanity, head to Surfer at 6:00 for complimentary beer until 8:30! There is also a raffle and free appetizers, but, let’s be honest, we care about the beer. There should be great music and a good social scene all to support a good cause.

– Does anyone else think succulents are cute? Yea, me neither…Anyways, from 6:30-7:30 at Painting with a Twist, you can start out your evening planting a succulent and painting a terra cotta pot. It’s $40, but you walk away with some cute tiny plants. Big win.

Friday, July 27

– Hosted by Wine and Canvas Jax, you can paint your own masterpiece for $20 with all supplies and apron included! Although I’m not sure why they’re called Wine and Canvas if the wine isn’t free, don’t fret, it is still available for purchase. Come on artsy people, get painting.

– For those of you that haven’t heard of Dixie Highway, they are a local country and southern rock band. They will be playing at River City Brewing Company at 9 PM for FREE. For anyone that’s skeptical of the band, RCBC has some of the BEST beer by reputation. Let’s get buzzed and rock on, party people.

The Summer Riverside Food Truck Rally goes down from 6-10 PM at the Riverside Arts MarketJacksonville’s top food trucks are coming in hot (get it? Because it’s food) and ready to serve! There is also a free concert and the 2018 Red, White, and Brew Freedom & Beer Run. Sounds like all of our favorite things in one spot.

 – You may laugh at anime, but anime may laugh at you (and everything because they laugh a lot). Come out for Jacksonville’s award-winning Gaming event! There will be video games, a charity art auction, food trucks, and live music. So come out for the best nerd charity event around.

Sunday, July 29

 – We’ve all heard of lazy Sundays, but have you indulged in a Jazzy Sunday? Head to the Jacksonville Landing for a night filled with amazing jazz music and delicious drinks! It’s free and you have a food court right next to you if you get hungry.

– I’m always preaching about these summer classic movies at the Florida Theatre. Let’s try one that is a bit creepier, like Night of the Living Dead. For only $7.50, come to watch corpses leave the graveyard in search of fresh human bodies to devour. Not weird at all…

Monday, July 30

Gather ‘round River and Post’s Rooftop Lounge & Bar and witness the first EVER Cocktails for a Cause! With 14 bartenders competing, they will be concocting their own Jameson creations to win the best cocktail award. The unique drinks will be auctioned off and proceeds will go to charity.

– Football season is BACK! From 10:30-1 PM, the Jags will be having a mini training camp open to the public at the TIAA Bank Field. This is completely free to watch, so why not get a pre-season pump?

Tuesday, July 31

Jaguars Training Camp is back for day 2. Oh, so you thought that was yesterday only? THINK AGAIN. The Jags are still trying to rally the crowd and get ready for some good ‘ole football.

 – Training for Warriors in San Marco focuses on strength training, core conditioning, and metabolic endurance. They’re offering a free week of classes AND a free consultation. Don’t blame me if you hate it and they bug you about a membership, though.
