The Happiest Happy Hours in Jacksonville

There can (and should) be so much more to Happy Hour than slightly discounted beers and $5 shots of flavored vodka, so we scoured the menus of countless Jacksonville area restaurants for some of the best Happy Hour deals that go above and beyond, deals-wise.

Black Sheep Restaurant

Located in the Five Points district in Riverside, Black Sheep’s modern American fare has earned it plenty of fans. Their accessible but slightly elevated cuisine and craft cocktail program is best enjoyed on their Instagrammable rooftop longe area, an attractive open-air spot with great views of the city. Their happy hour, from 4-7 on Tuesdays through Saturdays, includes deals on small bites like fried olives, crispy wings, shoestring potatoes, as well as larger dishes like roasted oysters and their house specialty hamburger. You can also expect a handful of $6 craft brews, $8 craft cocktails (including fun riffs on classics like a hibiscus margarita and a white Negroni), and generous discounts on a couple dozen different bottles of wine. 1534 Oak St., Jacksonville, FL; blacksheep5points.com // @blacksheep5points

Biscottis

Avondale bistro Biscottis offers Southern and Italian influenced new American cuisine, incorporating other global flavors throughout the diverse menu, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Monday through Friday from 3-6:30 you can (and should) drop in for their Happy Hour, which has a great selection of $6 bar bites, including grilled shrimp lollipops, crab and artichoke fondue, and veggie “meatballs.” Discounted cocktails and mocktails will keep drinkers and teetotalers alike happily hydrated. 3556 St. Johns Ave., Jacksonville, FL; biscottis.net // @biscottisjax

Prati Italia

James Beard Nominated Head Chef Tom Gray’s seasonal-inspired menu at the classy Southside Italian restaurant Prati Italia features housemade pasta, Roman pizzas, and rich, comforting entrees. Their “industrial chic” interior and glamorous clientele makes this spot a favorite for those looking to have a fancy night out without going bankrupt, with plenty of affordable, yet enticing fine dining options. Take their Happy Hour menu, which features $5 and $10 bites like arancini, pizza, and crispy cheese curds, plus $8 craft cocktails and $5 local draft beers. 4972 Big Island Dr., Jacksonville, FL; pratiitalia.com // @pratiitaliajax

The Blue Fish Restaurant and Oyster Bar

Elevated seafood spot The Blue Fish in Avondale is a local favorite and a go-to for everything from intimate date nights to banquets and weddings. Boasting all the hallmarks of a great Florida seafood spot, expect plenty of fresh caught treats prepared simply, plus some more creative preparations. Their Happy Hour menu features unbelievable deals on bar snacks like fried fish bites and Baja tacos, plus shellfish options like oysters at $12 for a dozen and sautéed PEI mussels. 3551 St Johns Ave., Jacksonville, FL; bluefishjax.com // @bluefishjax

Carmines Pie House

Carmines Pie House opened with the aim of “revisiting traditional Italian,” this well-loved Riverside joint is family friendly but with a quirky charm that brings to mind a beachside dive bar. Taking a centrist approach to the ongoing pizza wars, Carmines offers both New York style thin crust pizza and Chicago style stuffed pies, with plenty of toppings, including some left-field options, like coconut, capicola, and broccoli for those looking to get experimental. Save a few bucks and sample their wares every Monday-Friday from 2pm until 6pm with $2.50 pizza slices and half price on select drafts and house wine. 2677 Forbes St., Jacksonville, FL; carminespiehouse.com // @carmines_pie_house
