Fight off the winter doldrums with these five family-friendly events happening this month in the Jacksonville area. From interactive art or gardening classes to a family-friendly movie night at a baseball diamond, to interactive storytimes, there’s something for every age range and interest!

Kids Art Lab at MOCA Jacksonville
This monthly event gives kids a chance to learn about different STEAM topics through a variety of interactive projects. February’s theme is “colorful chemistry” so you know things are gonna get wild. Family Movie Night with the Jacksonville Shrimp at 121 Financial Ballpark
Enjoy a free screening of Pixar’s “Soul” at your favorite minor league baseball field. The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp have linked up with the folks at the Jax Melanin Market for a screening of this family favorite as a part of their Black History Month programming. There will also be face painting, inflatables and plenty of other surprises. Bring a blanket and sit on the field or enjoy a first-come-first-served view from the seats. Storyteller Mornings at the Cummer Museum
The Cummer Museum’s monthly storyteller mornings story time finds families with kids ages 2-6 gathered in one of their galleries or gardens for an “art-filled story time adventure.” After storytime, they head to the kid-friendly art studio and work on a project inspired by that month’s story. $5. 11:15 a.m. 829 Riverside Ave. Jacksonville, FL; cummermuseum.org // @CummerMuseum

Budding Gardeners: Terrarium Treasures at the Garden Club of Jacksonville
Whether your kid was born with a green thumb or is just starting to show an interest in gardening, the Garden Club of Jacksonville has a great way for them to get their hands dirty: building a terrarium with the help of one of their master gardeners. If they’re in grades 1-6, this is a great arts and craft project that’s built to last. Northeast Florida Scottish Games and Festival at Clay County Fairgrounds
Bringing “a wee bit o’ Scotland” to Northeast Florida, the Highland Games are an unforgettable celebration of Scottish culture, celebrating the deep roots Scots have in the area.
