5 Exhibits Worth Visiting in Jacksonville

We’re back with five more high quality art events happening in the Jacksonville area this month, with happenings like an artist-led hands-on history lesson, a pair of group shows from local artists, and an immersive multimedia show from an up-and-coming local artist.

What’s On Your Table? at Jacksonville Main Library

Group exhibition What’s On Your Table? is a showcase of how 34 local artists answer the deceptively simple question posed by the show’s name. For their last show of the year, The Art Center Cooperative is featuring the work of nearly three dozen artists across various media, from photography, to painting, to ceramics and more. Stop by the Jacksonville Main Library and be sure to pick your favorite before finding out which piece was the judge’s favorite. Frieseke in Florida at the Cummer Museum

Though Frederick Carl Frieseke spent just a few years in his childhood living in Jacksonville, it was a formative period, helping shape his artistic vision and pet themes. Art with a Heart in Healthcare: What Lifts You Up at MOCA

Black Fractals: Art by Jordyn Bowen at Yellow House

Local gallery Yellow House hosts an all new exhibition from Jax area artist Jordyn Bowen, featuring printed work, video, audio, and immersive installations. Bowen’s work uses Blackness as a lens to view our slow-motion apocalypse as well as a way of imagining a vision of a better future. Decorative Art from The Ottoman Empire – A Workshop with Dima Kroma at Istanbul Center & Atlantic Institute

Visual artist Dima Kroma leads this interesting workshop exploring Islamic biomorphic designs from the time of the Ottoman Empire up until today, allowing art history fans, aspiring makers, and established artists alike the chance to experiment firsthand with the styles and design methods used in a variety of traditional Islamic art forms.
