14 Races Around #JAX to Help You Enjoy Seasonal Vibes

 

 

Whether you’re a beginner runner, a rookie or an elite enthusiast, there are plenty of races around town for you to enjoy this fall! Plus, if you register early, you can save some money! So hop to it, folks… or should I say ‘race’ to it?

Sunday, October 27

Evergreen Pumpkin Run

You can choose to be an overachiever with a 10-mile course or keep it simple with a regular 5k at this choose-your-own-adventure event. Plus, you get to take a pumpkin home, and there will be free food and prizes for best costumes! (Evergreen Cemetery // 8:00 a.m. // $30+)

Terrain Race

Mud, walls, ropes, monkey bars and 15+ other obstacles are included in this unique course… Are you ready? If you think you’re up for it, you can sign up for the full 5K, or you can sign up for the shorter Mini Monkey Run! (Jacksonville Equestrian Center // 8:00 a.m. // $40)

Saturday, November 2nd

Florida Brain Tumor Race

The 3rd annual Florida Brain Tumor Race is here to help us celebrate life and love! Whether you’re aiming to walk, run or watch, you can make a difference at this race. You can actually drop off donations at any Gate gas station to contribute to the cause. Of course, you can win prizes for finishing the race first, but you can also win prizes for fundraising! (Baptist MD Anderson’s Cancer Center // 7:45 a.m. // $30+)

November 9

Bailey’s Health and Fitness Run 

This course is flat and FAST. You can hop on the 10k course or stick with the standard 5k. Either way, you’ll have a great time and receive free food and drinks after you finish! This race is also part of the Grand Prix schedule, which awards cash and prizes (peep the website for details). (Bailey’s Gym Mandarin // 8:00 a.m. // $25+)

Surfer the Bar 5K Race

This will be the FIRST EVER Surfer the Bar 5k race in Jax Beach! Everyone that signs up will receive a free beer at Surfer (age 21+), a pint glass or sports bottle and a finisher medal! What could be better than running around the beach and indulging in an after-party at the bar? (Surfer the Bar // 9:00 p.m. // $20+)

Ryan’s Run 

Who wouldn’t want to run through the beautiful tree-lined Ortega neighborhood streets?  Sign up for Ryan’s Run, which is held in memory of Ryan Perry and benefits the Ortega United Methodist Church. There is a post-race celebration with food, refreshments and games for all! (Ortega United Methodist Church // 8:00 a.m. // $10+)

November 10

Salute to Veterans Run 

The longest-running Veterans Day 5k in Jacksonville is back again for its 8th showing. This 5k usually has over 750 runners! So if you’re ready to join a fun group and run along the scenic St. Johns River, say no more. As an added perk, the race benefits K9s for Warriors and the Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association. Go get some exercise and support something great! (929 E Bay St // 8:00 a.m. // $20+)

#FrayLife Tip: They also have a 1-mile Patriotic Paws Parade at 9:00 a.m. If you want to walk or run alongside your furry friend, now is your chance! There are prizes for the top 3 finishers!

November 16

Hog Jog 

The 31st running of the Hog Jog… the THIRTY FIRST! That means it’s fun and worth repeating! Aside from just the 5k, there is also a mile fun run. With a scenic course and a good atmosphere, it’s time y’all sign up! (Ronnie Van Zant Park // 8:00 a.m. // $15+)

Tunnel to Towers Run

This race was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter who lost his life on September 11. You can run to win or walk the 5k. Regardless, you’ll have fun and show your support! (One World Golf Place // 8:00 a.m. // $35)

November 23

McKenzie’s Run

With a goal to boost the Jacksonville community and raise awareness of the McKenzie Noelle Wilson Foundation, McKenzie’s Run is a fun race that goes through the TIAA Bank Field! Aside from joining one of the most awesome runs around town for its 10th annual showing, you will support a nonprofit! Go Jacksonvillians, go! (TIAA Bank Field // 10:00 a.m. // $15+)

November 28

Thanksgiving Distance Classic

Everyone loves a good turkey trot. Of course, one of the best parts is the free refreshments, fruit and bagels that will be available right after the race! Plus, you guys have plenty of course options– a 5k, a half marathon, or a 1-mile turkey trot. Get up early, though, because this one starts at the crack of dawn! (9850 San Jose Blvd // 6:50 a.m. // $10+)

Fishweir Brewing Thanksgiving Day 5K

We all need another reason to meet at Fishweir Brewing to drink good beer and celebrate Thanksgiving! Join your family & friends for a turkey trot near San Marco in Jacksonville. Good food, good drinks and good vibes. (Fishweir Brewing // 8:00 a.m. // $10)

Tony’s Turkey Trot for Brain Injury Awareness

This 5th annual fundraiser & 5k is back with all of its gusto! In the quaint area of Atlantic Beach, prepare to run in Folio Weekly’s “Best of the Beaches” 5k! Food vendors, face painting, a photo booth and a pumpkin pie eating contest… This is definitely one of the best runs around town. (Downtown Atlantic Beach // 8:00 a.m. // $15+)

December 1

Guana 50K and 12K Races

Obviously, this is no easy feat. You have to be ready to run… far. You can go it alone or get a team to join (especially if you want to split up the mileage)! All finishers receive a ‘green’ hat and a long-sleeve race shirt. Of course, the fastest racers get a few extra awards, too. (Guana Research Reserve // 8:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. // $30+)

#FrayLife Tip: This course is a winding 7.75-mile loop that is mostly hard-packed and 90% shaded.
