Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Jax: 10/17 – 10/23

Prepare for a party this week with axe throwing, trivia, and ziplining

The leaves are changing, the pumpkins are being picked, we are starting to pick out Halloween costumes…so that leaves the question, what cool Fall-type stuff is there to do around Jacksonville?! Fear not my friends, I have the answers.

Mellow Mushroom is the spot for anyone looking for a good slice, but also for anyone looking to show off their Friends facts, with their friends. Of course, we want to keep it friendly. Anyone sick of these puns, yet? Regardless, FRIENDS trivia is back this week.

– Axe throwing might not sound like a fall-type-thing, but it sure does sound cool. Head out to the Autobahn Indoor Speedway in Jax to compete for a spot throwing axes at the nationally televised World Axe Throwing Championship at 7 PM! If you think you can throw, better get started since there is a $5000 first-place prize!

– Going on from 3:30-9:30, get your wine on at Cowford Chophouse downtown! For anyone that likes a good ‘ole cocktail mixer, take advantage of this since a portion of ticket proceeds are donated to local nonprofits…Plus, you could meet a sweet, cute date for the future (wink, wink).

– We’ve promoted this before and will promote it again – Conner’s A-maize-ing Acres is the place to be! If you just want to giggle with your family and friends while you pick pumpkins and drink cider, this is the place to go.

– Silent discos seem to be popping up all over the map in 2018, and WasabiCon is hosting this banger in Jacksonville! At the Museum of Science & History, you can put on those headphones, show off some balling dance moves, and vibe with the laser lights on the dance floor ALL NIGHT LONG.

Saturday, October 20

– We know both ziplining and drinking beer are a hoot, but what about when you combine the two?! EXPLOSIVE. We will be zipping through ziplining at the Osprey Challenge Course behind UNF from 3-5PM and follow it with a refreshing beer at Bottlenose Brewery!

– Ready to challenge your way of thinking? At TEDxJacksonville, you will be asked to exchange the seen for the unseen and abandon your assumptions and perspective. Sound deep? The Florida Theatre is hosting this big event with 12 speakers and 3 performances! Starts at 11 AM (and they have food!).

Sunday, October 21

Anybody else like DJ Will Clarke? To be honest, we’re yet to hear him in concert, but we know he’s amazing since he’s coming to River City Brewing Co! After the Jags game on Sunday, River City will be hosting the party and prepping all the drinks with some live music!

– It’s going down from 7-11PM. You will be scared, be spooked, and be frightened at Warehouse 31 Unleashed. North Florida’s largest haunted house is bringing terror to Jacksonville with cannibals, swamp waters, and a slaughter circus. The question is, are you brave enough?

Monday, October 22

– At Creative Grain Studio, come and join a DIY class for some fun, good vibes, and the chance to create 2 of your own wooden planks (for just $60)! The only catch is every guest has to bring a guest to get this offer, so use this opportunity to find yourself a hot date.

Tuesday, October 23

– At Hoptinger in Five Points, prepare your tummies and your liver for some good grub and even better brew at next week’s rooftop beer dinner. 5 courses, all your friends, and nonstop fun…What more do you need to turn up on a Tuesday?

– So we all know nobody is happy…until they get some laugh-out-loud comedy in their lives! At Comedy Zone in Jacksonville, the Nobody’s Happy Comedy tour continues on from 7:30-10PM just to enrich your lives with some good giggles. Tickets are only $20!

Okay, so maybe it’s not all really Fally-type stuff, but it is all good stuff! Jacksonville knows how to keep its people happy, so get out of your house, spread your wings, and FLY to all these cool events. When you do, don’t forget to tag us with #FrayLife #JaxFray so we can keep up with you on social.

Now that fall is here, do you need some new ideas for things to do with your four-legged friend? Here are some of our favorite pet-friendly things to do in Jax.
