Stay Active and Outdoors in Jax Beach with These 4 Fun Fall Activities

Jax Beach is one of the most popular areas in the entire city for good reason. There’s no debating that our beaches are world-class, and we don’t blame you for a minute if you’ve spent all summer lounging in the sand and soaking in rays.

But as fall rolls into town, it’s time to spend September getting a little sweaty at the beach in a different way.

In addition to white sand and blue water, Jax Beach is also home to a variety of other outdoor activities that let you get your sweat on while being active and social.

Here are 4 ways you can enjoy the beaches this fall when you’re looking to do more than just layout. Check them out, and make sure to let us know when you go do them by tagging #FrayLife #JaxFray on social!

1. Cradle Creek Preserve

This is a very cool place to walk (or run) some scenic wildlife trails.  These trails have an amazing view of the salt marsh and a lot of cool wildlife that calls this area home. It even has nice wooden walkways in some areas that are a break from walking on the rugged terrain. Some people kayak out here at their own risk, depending on your level of experience you can check out the famous Intracoastal waterways on a nice afternoon.

#FrayLife Tip: Cradle Creek is animal-friendly, so if you have a furry pal that you’d like to bring along, you can.

2. Jacksonville Surf and Paddle

Right next door to Jacksonville beach, is Neptune Beach, home to Jacksonville Surf and Paddle. This place is perfect if you’re new to board sports because they have lots of qualified instructors to teach you the basics of windsurfing, surfing, and paddleboarding. If you’re experienced and have your own gear, feel free to bring it, but Jacksonville Paddle and Surf is a one-stop shop that lets you rent these items.

3. Jacksonville Beach Action Sports Park

If you are into skateboarding or rollerblading, this is the place in Jax Beach for you. It’s owned and operated by the city, so it’s completely free to use from dawn to dusk every day! There also other parts to this park where you can play on Astroturf or head over to other courts to participate in other activities.

#FrayLife Tip: This is a super popular spot most days when the weather is nice (aka always), so it’s a great place to meet people who enjoy some of the same things you do.

4. Kathryn Abby Hanna Park

Last but not least is the place often referred to as just “Hanna Park.” This is one of the most scenic parks in all of Jacksonville (which is saying something) and is home to some of the most beautiful trails in all of Florida. Famous for its breathtaking views and beautiful peek into beach wildlife Hanna Park is a favorite among native Floridians and visitors alike. This trail too is pet-friendly and is a beautiful place where you can relax, walk peaceful trails, explore native wildlife, and just enjoy the weather.
