Beer Can Derby: Pride Edition at Alewife Craft Beer Bottle Shop & Tasting Room
It’s time for our second Beer Can Derby race of 2022! With June being LGBTQ+ Pride Month, we have partnered with Sun King brewing to bring you a special Pride-themed edition. What’s a Beer Can Derby you ask? It’s a competition in which participants construct a pinewood derby-style race car using a beer can (in this case, a Sun King Brewery beer can!) instead of the traditional plank of wood. You will design and construct a car with the materials provided and race against fellow competitors for a chance to win a sweet Sun King prize pack! Registration will be $15 and includes: your first Sun King beer (you will use the empty can in your car design), a set of wheels and axles, and all the materials you will need to decorate and design your beer can race car. Each can car must pass inspection by the official inspection committee before it will be allowed to compete. Once inspection has been passed, you’ll be given a race time. All competing racecars must be built on site! “If you ain’t first, you’re last.” Not true! We’ll also be awarding a prize for Most Creative Design. $15. 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. 1035 Park St., Jacksonville, FL; alewifebottleshop.com // @alewifebottleshop

If watermelons aren’t your thing, how about some blueberries instead? The Braddock Blueberry Farm was started in 1995. The blueberry variety is rabbiteye and we use all-natural practices (no pesticide or fertilizer). Before you set off on your blueberry picking adventure there are a few things to remember to make your day a success. Apply sunscreen and bug spray before you come. Consider packing a snack and drink to keep little ones from getting cranky during the adventure. Please note that all events at Braddock Blueberries are subject to change or cancellation due to inclement weather. Please always visit our Facebook page on the day of your planned visit for final event details. You will be parking and walking in grass and unpaved areas. Thanks for loving your local farmer! Monthly Beach Cleanup at Oceanfront Park
It’s time to start up our monthly Beach Cleanups again! Right now, we’re looking at the 4th Sunday of every month. Eventually, we’ll have back my banner, wagon, and chairs, to make us easy to find. For this month, I’ll just try to be visible. (I’ll be in a floppy hat and long-sleeved blue rash guard). Please bring sunscreen and water. (I’ll have water bottles in my trunk if needed, but I’m NOT carrying it to the sand without a wagon.) I’ll have bags, and gloves. Come join us in this act over service to the Earth, join us in reverence afterwards, and come hang out and talk with other Pagans in a non-threatening setting. We typically “work” for about an hour, but folks are more than welcome to linger. We will meet on the sand at Oceanfront Park. Free. 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. 429 1st St. S, Jacksonville Beach, FL
