It is the first full week of February, and there are a lot of educational and musical activities throughout the city. If you are an R&B lover, then look no further than the Gladys Knight concert. Or if you have been interested in self defense, you can attend a concealed carry class this week. With the 2022 Jacksonville Film Festival also taking place this week, you can dabble with your artistic side. There should be a little something for everyone in Jax.

Gladys Knight
Dubbed the “Empress of Soul,” Gladys Knight has been a famous R&B and soul singer since 1948, when she began singing at age four. A seven-time Grammy award winner, Gladys is returning to the Florida Theatre to put on a performance. R&B fans, come out and enjoy the concert for a fun-filled Thursday evening. 8-10 p.m. $50-$100. 2022 Jacksonville Film Festival
At the historic San Marco Theatre, the 2022 Jacksonville Film Festival is officially a-go this year and will be screening more than 80 films from around the world. Friday evening will be Opening Night, featuring “All of the Colors.” Saturday will focus on the “Women’s Perspective,” pixelated animation, and more. Sunday has a full itinerary, kicking off with short narratives at 12:30 p.m. Get an all access pass or individually buy tickets to the displays you are most interested in. $10-$99. “RE-Potting” Event
With the opportunity to speak and ask questions directly to the Jacksonville Orchid Society, this “RE-Potting” event is the perfect chance for newbies to learn about potting orchids. They have asked that all attendees bring no more than five orchids and keep an open mind to learn more. This will reoccur every first Saturday of the month from February through November, so if you cannot attend this weekend, there will be many more chances. 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Free. Family Fun Day
Carnival booths, games, shopping, dining, and more, Family Fun Day will likely be a treat for everyone. At Legacy Ale Works, bring the family and check out this free day of fun. There will be many local vendors, from which you can browse the goods they are selling. And Casa Maria will be on site to sell their delicious Mexican food. Plus, you can always have a good time at Legacy Ale Works with their savory craft beer. This can be a great Sunday Fun Day. 12 – 4 p.m. Free. Jacksonville Farmers Market
If you are an aficionado of organic and locally-grown produce, you are in luck. It seems that Jacksonville has an array of Farmers Markets, but the “Jacksonville Farmers Market” on West Beaver St. tends to be very popular. Visited by over one million people each year, take your pick of assorted produce and even unique specialty items. 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Free. Imagine Dragons
When they came out with “Radioactive” in 2012, Imagine Dragons certainly gained fame across the nation, especially as they received a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance and two Grammy Awards nominations for Record of the Year. Fortunately, for Jacksonville residents, the band will be performing live at the Veterans Memorial Arena, on their Mercury World Tour. Tickets start as low as $40, so do not miss out if you are interested. 7 p.m. $40-$500.
