Ready to Jam Out in Jax? These are the Music Venues You MUST See Shows at this Summer

You know those people that say they like music? Well, I have news for them – everyone likes music. That just goes without saying! So since we are going to keep it simple and accept the unspoken love for music, I’ll tell you the whereabouts of awesome music in Jacksonville. And, if you’re lucky, I’ll tell you some places you can find these terrific tunes for FREE.

Daily’s Place

If you love those concerts outside rather than sweating indoors with a crowd, Daily’s Place holds a ton of events at their outdoor music venue. With featured artists like Logic and Wiz Khalifa, this is probably the most popular place for a good time and some good tunes. They list their event schedule online so you can pick and choose if you’d rather watch someone like the Rascal Flatts (name dropping) or O.A.R.! Regardless, they have some very popular people roll through. Even if you’re cranky and hate all popular music, you can be outside with your friends so you’re always due for a party.

#FrayLifeTip: Located downtown near the EverBank Field where the Jags play, this area is super fun but can get super congested. They give you directions and parking advice online to help you out!

Jack Rabbits

If you’re on the search for a live music venue that specializes in that local feel, Jack Rabbits is the place. Priding itself on hiring local talent, Jack Rabbits is dedicated to providing regional artists a place to perform their original music. Located in the historic San Marco area, they touch on all genres of music, but they are known a bit more for including rock and screamo if you’re into that. AND they branch out a bit to include stand-up comedy and improv. Unfortunately, it isn’t free but you can get tickets through http://jaxlive.com. Jack Rabbits – the live music venue that does it all (and at a great price).

#FrayLifeTip: The 1st Tuesday of every month, there is a group called Mad Cowford Improv that is hilarious and open to all ages!

The Coffee Grinder

The Coffee Grinder focuses on Jacksonville’s best DJs and electronic music, in addition to NUMEROUS other cool things – local artists’ paintings on the wall, hot coffee brewed on the spot, beer, wine, and a seriously classy environment. These live DJs spin progressive house and trance music on the patio while you sip on the beverage of your choosing. Even picking a drink is hard with over 60 coffee choices (unless you know you’re there for the alcohol. The Coffee Grinder also is proud to have “regulars” instead of “customers”, so they put their best foot forward to literally call you by name when you return. They also have a food menu coming soon, so never rule out The Coffee Grinder for a good time!

#FrayLifeTip: The live music is usually 4 or 5 nights a week, so plan ahead for your visit if you want the music too.

Cliff’s Bar & Grill

If you came for dinner but also want some catchy diddies while you eat, Cliff’s Bar & Grill is the SPOT. Cliff’s has a great venue for tasty pub food, awesome cocktails, and magnificent live music. To add to the fun stuff, there is also a pool, poker, trivia, and karaoke. If you want a one-stop spot to do it all, Cliff’s has you covered. With live music from daring local bands every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday night, you get a mix of everything from country to rock to the good ‘ole classics. Just be prepared for the smoky scene because these locals know how to party.

#FrayLifeTip: They play their music really loud, so if you’re looking for just some simple background noise, try another place. If you really want to vibe, go to Cliff’s!

Fly’s Tie

When it comes to biker gang bars, Fly’s Tie takes the cake. With a huge assortment of beer and mixed drinks, they also welcome all local rock bands. The bands that come to play at this small, hole-in-the-wall bar in Atlantic Beach are long-haired, grease-trodden guys who love Black Sabbath and the Beatles. So if that’s your scene, Fly’s Tie will be super fun, especially with the crowds of other drunk people who love the music!

#FrayLifeTip: They have the quaint outdoor patio as a way to escape the smoke and loudness if you need a break or some space to sit down and relax.

Jacksonville has enough spots for live music for you to make your choice. The hardest part will be choosing anywhere with all these good options (cheesy but true). So all in all, just give them all a chance and live with no regrets!
