It’s 2020…Time to go for a Run!

In the spirit of 2020 fitness resolutions, I know many of you may be ready to partake in a good, old fashioned 5K! Whether you’re simply looking for a fun run or shooting for a personal record, there are always tons of road races all through Jacksonville.

Saturday, February 1st

Henry’s Run 5K
This run/walk is to honor Henry Robert Kruck, an inspirational man who had a rare genetic disease. He spread light and love, so the goal of this 5K is to do the same! Bring your friends and join in on the fun in Orange Park. You have the choice of a 5K or 1 mile run, and there will be awards given after the race! (

DONNA Run
This run is HUGE every year because of the shared goal to fight breast cancer. 5K, half marathon, full marathon, half marathon relay…you choose how far you want to go and if you want to do it alone. Thousands of runners will jog along this Neptune Beach course, armed with tons of photographers to capture your efforts! (Beaches Town Center // 7:30 & 8 am // $40+)

Superhero Run
As these organizers have so cleverly put it, “grab your cape and come run with us!” This scenic run is along the beautiful River Road in Orange Park and will have awards, T-shirts, live music, and much more! Sign up with a pal or tackle it alone, but rest assured that you will have fun regardless. (

Swoop the Loop Fun Run
Whether you’re an osprey that is always busy “swooping” or you just want to check out the pretty scenery of UNF’s campus, this 5K is sure to be a goodie! All participants get shirts and medals, if you need a little motivation. Get yourself signed up and let the pre-workout warm-up get you going! (1 UNF Dr. // 9 am // $20+)

Moo-ve it 5K
Who likes cows? Who likes them even more when they’re cooked into delicious steaks (sorry, I know that’s cruel). Cowford Chophouse is hosting a family friendly 5K race and a one-mile fun run! There will be a post-race block party, music, beer, and food. Some may say you could jump over the moon for one event with exercise AND good grub! (

Running of the Bulls 5K
The 6th annual Running of the Bulls 5K is upon us. Starting at Intuition Ale Works, runners will be chased through downtown by the Jacksonville Roller Derby as the “bulls.” So if you need some motivation, let the urge to not be caught get your legs moving. Costumes are welcome! (Intuition Ale Works // 8:30 am // $30+)

Saturday, February 29th

Ortega River Run
This is quite the scenic course along the Ortega River. If you’re ready to jog along and stare at blue skies, pristine water, and views of downtown Jacksonville, sign on up. There’s a one mile fun run and a 5K run. Whether you choose to race your heart out or trot for fun is up to you! (

Gate River Run
This is the BIG one. It might be long, but it sure is fun! It feels like the whole city comes out to run the Gate River Run. This year, there is a NEW starting line, a Publix post race celebration, 120 kegs of Miller beer, $56,400 in prize money, and MORE. Of all the races on this list, this is one you won’t want to miss.
