Find Our Favorite Happy Hour in Jax for Every Day of the Week

We’ve all had days at work where we question if we really need our job … then there are some of us who have bosses that make a box in an alley seem not that bad after all. Don’t quit your job just yet …  we have some of the best places in Jax for much needed happy hour drinks after a long day of watching the clock.

Monday: Sherwood Bar

This pub style bar is located downtown right across from the St. Johns River. This place is a great bar to chillax and even has a back room with pool tables. It also has $4 ménage a trios and lemon drops shots in addition to other drink specials at their renovated bar. Sherwood isn’ the type of place that’s always hustling and bustling with people, so it’s the perfect cure for the Monday blues.

Tuesday: Hoptinger Bier Garden and Sausage House

With locations at both the beach and Riverside, Hoptinger is a North Florida favorite, for good reason. The Riverside location has a rooftop option with an amazing view, making it a really hot spot for a variety of people. Tuesday happy hour is amazing because not only is there beer deals, but also $3 glasses of wine. Invite a couple friends and you may have a shindig! Be sure to order a sausage dog or some cheeseheads if your feeling light, you’ll definitely want to add this to your list of usuals.

#FrayLife Tip: Hoptinger has 60+ beers, which is one of the largest beer lists in Jacksonville, so you are sure to find a beer (or a dozen), that you love.

Wednesday: Black Sheep

Located in Riverside/5 points area, Black Sheep caters to your swanky side. Check out the rooftop dining with a kick-ass view of Riverside and a lot of great places to sit grab a drink.  Happy hour here is from 3-6 pm and it a very popular spot, so get there early if you can.  With cocktails starting at $5 and discounts on wine and beer this place is definitely a #HumpDay night go-to.

#FrayLife Tip: The happy hour drink menu is a pretty decent size with house specials like the “Dusty Boot” Old Forester Bourbon, simple syrup, lemon & lime juices, Jerry Thomas bitters, smoked sea salt and cracked black pepper rim or the “Park Street Collins”  with ouse infused lemon vodka, cucumber syrup, lemon, and lemon soda.

Thursday: Taproom and My Place Bar and Grill

This one is close to bay meadows, so if you are like the majority of Jacksonvillians and have to fight that 5 pm traffic through the Southside this isn’t too far. The really cool thing about these two bars is that they are right next door to each other… you literally walk out of one and right into the other… and they both have totally different vibes and drinks specials. My Place usually has a live band and lots of TVs for a more sports bar kind of vibe. While Taproom is way more posh with a wooden bar and walls this in addition to dim lighting and a stocked bar with every kind of spirit imaginable makes this place more fancy than next door.

#FrayLife Tip: Heading over here on a “Thirsty Thursday”? Try the $4 Jager, $3.50 for the “Flat Tire Death,” as well as specials on vodkas and beers.

Friday: The Wine Bar

This place is a Friday night gem with soft comfy couches in one area, a nice size semi-circle bar, and a patio, so there is plenty of places to chill depending on your vibe. Most Friday’s there is a live musician and over in the couch area, there are board games you are welcome to play if you have a group. Their wine is reasonably priced every day, but on Friday’s you can get champagne, stiff drinks, and a choice of wine without breaking the bank. The bar staff is so knowledgeable too, so if you want to try a new a wine they will lead you in the right direction!
